BioWare blegh

I've been a little frustrated with BioWare lately. Their 7.0.1 update today, which was supposed to fix some bugs (which, presumably it did do. I notice that the unify colors problem seems to be working finally now) seems to have broken Galactic Seasons. I'm not getting rewards on the reward track that I'm earning. They just disappear. Luckily for me it's only been one weapon. I've seen reports of other people have worse problems with rewards not dropping, like cartel coins and more.

I'm reminded of other problems that I have with them, of course. Their political correctness predates the use of the word woke, but it's the same problem. They've been saying for some time now that the character of Knights of the Old Republic 2 is Meetra Surik, an action-grrl Jedi. Which is fine, except that it's not true. Had they always initially intended for the character to be a grrl Jedi, it seems unlikely that the iconic artwork (other than the slipcase's cover art) showing the main character would have featured a man. Yes, some of us remember, BioWare. You can't tell us that one thing happened while we remember first hand that something else is actually what happened instead.

Ironically, had the character always been meant to be a grrl, and the artwork showed that clearly, it probably wouldn't have been a big deal. I mean, I doubt I'd have been quite as in to that, since I'm not a fan of the action-grrl stereotype. Like a normal, psychologically function and healthy person, I like women to be feminine, not act like Fake Men. But I could have overlooked it if everything else was done well, which it most respects it was. After all, we all know that the character is who you pick. If you make a female character, then the Jedi Exile is female for your playthrough. So making a big deal of virtue-signaling that the "default" assumption was that she was female comes across as virtue-signaling and obnoxious.

Of course, we also know that the fanbase for 1) Star Wars and 2) video games is heavily slanted towards young men. Not as much as it used to be, as more and more young women are getting into video games, although they don't necessarily play the same games or relate to the characters the same way. But still. Who did they think they were kidding? The default for the character was the one that was illustrated in their promotional artwork.

UPDATE: Now it's not just one weapon, it's also 200 cartel coins. I specifically DIDN'T claim them because of the bug, but it "autoclaimed" them anyway. Except, of course, that I didn't get them.

Three open tickets all related to the same bug. Hope I get the stuff that I earned from the helpdesk somehow, but I don't know. This is one of those game-breaking moments that causes people to walk away, folks, if it isn't addressed quickly and satisfactorily. Because of this, I feel like there's not any point in even playing at all. I'll get shafted from rewards if I do.
