Paizo Iconics - Hakon

Another short story. Sigh. Hakon is the iconic skald, a hybrid class that's part barbarian, part bard (another dumb combo) but his weird little short story background makes him sound like he was just the minstrel that followed some other vikings around telling stories about them, like the minstrels of Brave Sir Robin.

While getting bards represented through hybrids that aren't so gay and bardy maybe isn't such a bad idea, why can't you just make any other character who takes some performance with a musical instrument? Because bards aren't just bards, they're "magical bards" is why. I do sometimes get tired of the D&Disms in D&D (and Pathfinder, which is of course a D&D derivative game, especially in the 1e version.)

Hakon, though, feels like he was designed as a sidekick. I guess that's kind of the bards' role in general. Part of the reason I've never liked them.
