Just making a list (and checking it twice); here are some iconics that I already have plus those that I'd like to develop further. I have more, of course, but I decided that mostly those more weren't actually very iconic, so they fell to just being NPC status.
This post is mostly to make the list. I'll go through and make more detailed (updated, in some cases) posts for all of the iconic characters soon too.
Dominic Clevenger: my main star, protagonist iconic; a capable freelance hunter of the supernatural
Ragnar and Cailin Clevenger: Dominic's older brother and his young wife; saved by Ragnar from vampire predation, but not before she was turned into a dhampyr, and had to leave her community because they no longer trusted her. They don't often hunt with Dominic and Kimnor, per se, but they all check in on each other as often as they can.
Shule, the street-savvy goblin who seems to know everything going on in town somehow, and seems to know everyone that you want to know to get things done discretely, and everyone you don't want to know to stay respectable.
Kazar Ghulkaran, orc tough who straddles the line between honest work and organized crime. One day he'll need to commit to one life or the other. But in the meantime, he's "seen some things" and the life of crime has taken a back seat to discovering the supernatural secret world and protecting himself and those he knows from it.
Bertram Hardmont, am engineer/rogue with a shady past.
Stilton Kingsfax, raised as an orphan by the church, and eager to prove himself the equal to the dark forces arrayed against the Hill Country.
Tabitha Gamcott, studious academic with more curiosity about the wrong things than is good for her.
Oisin Dughall, the noble woodwose hunter, who stays in the wild in part because he's on the run from the Chersky Mafia!
Some so far un-named concepts; a young Tarushan pseudomage, a surtur spy and a surtur fire warlock of some kind, a kemling ghost collector, and her grim brother, and a triton duelist.
