I've always liked some of the earlier bounty hunter hunts. In particular, I like the chase for the Eidolon on Nar Shaddaa, and the pursuit of Gault on Tatooine. It kind of bugs me that you don't have any option except to lie to your employer and take on Gault as a companion even if you don't want to (although not as much as being forced to take Skadge on Belsavis) but it's still a pretty nice little story, and the pursuit of him is fun.
With Vant Galaide, I just finished Nar Shaddaa, with the exception of the bonus series, which I'll probably do tonight sometime, and then of course it's off to Tatooine. I'll probably play that next too, because I like Tatooine a lot, and I really enjoy playing around with the mercenary mechanics. Vant is a direct damage (arsenal), and I found that my smuggler mercenary was too, so I switched the smuggler to damage over time. I haven't played him since I restarted, so that's OK. He should feel a bit different than the other mercenary.
Embric Stane is also a damage over time mercenary, but he's the big guy that I was going to delete and then decided on a whim to play through with anyway, so I'm not 100% sure that he counts. And I've only tinkered with him a little bit since restarting. The third spec for mercenary is a heal spec, which I don't think makes much sense for solo play, so I've avoided it. In any case, the mercenary, the sniper and the gunslinger are almost certainly my favorite classes, with the powertech being just a hair behind them, at least in terms of mechanics. The Operative and Scoundrel are kind of nice with their sneaking around while invisible options, but aren't nearly as satisfying to play in combat. I remember when 7.x was first launching and the divorce of your story and your mechanics was happening, that some guy on the SWTOR forums made a flippant comment about having all of his characters be mercenaries or gunslingers. I guess he just really loves the two-gun gunfighter archetype, and isn't picky between those two classes, or for whatever reason likes them both equally. What can I say? I empathize. Although for some characters, I think the sniper is just as good.
Sadly, I don't think the mirror classes of the bounty hunter really live up to it; the vanguard and commando have their moments, but feel somehow less broadly applicable.
Anyway, I've done most of Nar Shaddaa with a crafted Mercenary chestpiece, which is a pretty bounty hunter stereotypical armor, especially when paired with a more Mandalorian-style helmet. I actually have a couple of other chestpieces that are similar, but the color on this one is kind of unique, and I like that aspect of it.
Although I'm not recording my characters anymore, I couldn't resist recording some footage of when you run and find Anuli dead, and then have to face the assassin droids of the Eidolon in Geleren's crappy office. That shot where both your character and Mako draw their guns together and point at the camera is a favorite.
Anyway, yeah—super happy with Vant Galaide. He's one of my favorite current characters that I'm currently playing. He's also, at least in that outfit, about as heavily armored as I'm willing to make most of my characters look. I've said it before, but I'll throw it out there again; I don't like heavily armored troopers. I like the idea of gunfighters in space.
Anyway, I've also been playing around a bit with Johhn, and have this strange Darth Nihilus tactical outfit for him, and then below that, Anstal Tane has developed a disco outfit for his inevitable retirement, when he doesn't want to look like a biker all of the time.
I've mostly just been playing around with the story and missions and stuff, but I might well decide that I want to get back soon to making some outfit videos or screenshots, or otherwise using SWTOR to model SOX character types, archtypes, or even specific characters.
Anyway, here's another few screenshots of someone else's character, which I also quite like. I thought I'd throw a few of these out there just for the heckuvit.
