Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks

Apparently, fighting fantasy gamebooks are going to be coming back into print again. These were an important part of my proto-RPG hobby middle school years, and I owned many of the early run in the early/mid 80s. I'm not a fan of some of the most popular ones, like Warlock of Firetop Mountain, which is the worst example of a dungeon crawl ever put to print, and super frustrating to read, but others like Forest of Doom and especially City of Thieves always came across to me as brilliant... although now that I'm no longer 13, I doubt I'd still find them as brilliant as I used to. In fact, I've got confirmation that I don't. But I still think of them very fondly. Although I was able to read many of them, I think, to the best of my memory, these were the ones that I owned.

Sigh. Sometimes it's a shame that I'm not 13 again, or that it's not 1985 or whatever again. That was the best.

Although there are 60 listed titles in this series, it looks like only about 20 at most were released in the US. Although I don't necessarily love the actual cover art, the US trade dress is very nostalgic to me, and I'm reluctant to entertain any other versions for my recovery efforts, honestly.

Why did I get rid of books when I was young, anyway? I've almost always regretted it.
