Friday Art Attack

I'm liking this tradition of Friday Art Attack.  I've barely scratched the surface of images that I've grabbed online over the years, and I keep adding to it fairly extensively, so this will probably go on indefinitely, supplemented from time to time with Extra Art Attacks.

Lovecraft themed images always are welcome in my collection.

The idea of WW2 robots in a parade is pretty cool.  This was back when NYC might possibly have been a place I could stand to live.  Maybe.  I'd still prefer a ranch in the Davis Mountains or the Hill Country of West Texas, 1940s.  Can you imagine how awesome that would be?

Another retro future moment; gigantic liners and an idyllic sea-side town.  Ah, America that was.  This is what has been stolen from us in the name of Diversity, Inc.

Zombies aren't really very sexy, but sometimes gratuitous violence, exotica, and even erotica is what makes the pulps so exciting.

Witchcraft isn't very sexy either, but y'know—the temptress and siren is a classic for a reason.

I tell D&D players all the time; if your game is such that some big, dangerous wildlife isn't intimidating because your characters are too powerful, you're not only missing out on something awesome, but you're totally doing it wrong.

I think this may be some kind of Dragonlance art, but I can't remember anymore.

Dinosaurs at the center of the earth goes way back to Jules Verne.

I don't know what's going on here, but I can imagine all kinds of fascinating backstories to this painting.

I like this kind of stuff.  The ships are a little too modern for my taste; a more Renaissance feel would be even better.

Steam-powered grim reaper astronauts.  Why not?

Although I dislike the idea of the Fake Man™ warrior-woman who doesn't know how to be feminine at all, because it's totally not attractive, you've still got to admit that this is an awesome piece of art.

Looks like a Death Dealer pastiche.  Maybe it's even from the comic book.  Which, one of these days I'd like to get my hands on and read.  Although I still need to keep reading the James Silke Death Dealer novels.  I read the first one... heck, back in the 80s when it was new.  I reread it about five years ago, and the sequel.  I still have the third book to read, and the fourth book to buy.

Armored alien soldiers.  From Destiny, I presume.  My kids tell me that the first Destiny was awesome, but the second one was kind of a dud.  I bought it for them (for a birthday a year ago, I think.  Or was it two years ago now?) but they didn't really play it all that much, sadly.  Same with Star Wars Battlefront II.  The first one was disappointing enough in many ways, and the second was supposed to fix it.  But it didn't.

Star Wars is well and truly dead, even in the video games.  Geez, they even renewed Kathleen Kennedy's contract for another three years.  Talk about flipping the bird to the fans.  It's over, folks.

A Ringwraith.  Let's get back to basics from time to time and remember Lord of the Rings, the best literature of the last century, and the most likely to make a lasting impression.

Boris Vallejo doint a very typical Vallejo piece.
